Jordan Pond Path – Acadia National Park

Overview

We had lunch at Jordan Pond House the day before, but we didn’t have enough time to do the full trail and catch a good sunset, so we decided to skip. And I couldn’t be happier that we did. Saving this hike for early in the morning got us a prime parking spot and the trail pretty much all to ourselves. We started the path going to the left and I thought it was much better route than if we had decided to go the other way. It was pretty overcast when we started the morning, but as the morning moved on, the weather lightened up and we got some pretty awesome lighting. This is a very easy walk around the pond, there aren’t many inclines, if any at all, and is a walking trail for just about anyone.

Attraction Tips

Go first thing in the morning

The parking lot fills up very quickly and it’s not very large, so you’ll want to get to this hike first thing in the morning before the lot is full. It’s especially tough (if not impossible) to find a parking space around lunch or in the afternoon unless you are extremely lucky and find someone leaving at the exact moment you’re driving by.

Attraction Details

Definitely do this trail first thing in the morning! You’ll skip all the traffic and be able to easily find a parking spot. Plus, this is a slow-paced peaceful walk, so the less people the better and it gets very guys as the day goes on. The trail is well-maintained with wooden boardwalks and stone steps to help guide you and keep you out of any mud.

The trail offers several lookout points where you can take in panoramic views of the pond and surrounding mountains. Visiting during the fall is especially beautiful because all of the trees are turning colors and there is nothing better than autumn foliage. Add this to your list and enjoy!
