Attraction Tips

Pre-booking is Required

You need to book tickets beforehand on the Blue Lagoon website. During booking, you’ll select a time frame to show up and you need to arrive in that time window. We recommend booking weeks or months in advance. More details about the booking process can be found below!

Visit in the Morning or At NIght

The best time to visit is in the morning to avoid larger crowds or late at night to enjoy the midnight sun in summer

Bring a Waterproof Phone Case

We would recommend bringing a waterproof phone case, a Ziploc bag or being very careful with your phone while spending time in the water and taking pictures at the Blue Lagoon

Everything is Expensive

We found that everything at the Blue Lagoon is very expensive (food, drinks, souvenirs, face masks) so we would recommend against buying anything here unless you have to.

How to Book Tickets

  • Visit Blue Lagoon’s website: https://www.bluelagoon.com/
  • From the menu, click on Book Now which will take you to this page here: https://www.bluelagoon.com/explore
  • Choose the The Blue Lagoon option, which will take you this page here: https://booking.bluelagoon.com/guests
  • Select the number of guests you’re booking for
  • Choose a date
  • Select the Package (Between Comfort, Premium and Retreat Spa) and Time that you will be getting to the lagoon.
    • We would recommend the Comfort package, which is the cheapest option, but still gives you the full experience. This package gives access to the Blue Lagoon, the locker rooms, use of a towel, one (1) drink of your choice and a silica mud mask. We’ve heard from other people that the Premium option isn’t worth the additional cost.
    • Important Note: When you select a time when booking, such as 9am, you must arrive with a one hour window (i.e. between 9-10am) in order for your ticket to be honored. If you know that you will be late due to external factors (flight lands later than expected, car breaks down, etc.), make sure to contact their support team via email or phone immediately to let them know. While there are no guarantees that they will be able to honor your ticket for another time, this will go a long way to helping your case when you do arrive at the Blue Lagoon.
  • Review your selection of the package and time, then click Continue
  • They will ask for any Extras at this point – skip this, unless you need transportation to and/or from the Blue Lagoon
  • Enter your Booking Details, then click Agree & Continue
  • Enter in Payment Details, then click Complete Payment to pay!
  • You should receive an email confirmation shortly after booking. You’re all set!

Attraction Details

When you arrive at the Blue Lagoon, there is a pretty spacious parking lot for you to park and the building is only a couple minutes away. When you arrive, there is a short line inside and we waited only about 10 minutes before we were ready to check in. While waiting in line, there is an attendant that gets your attention and gives a two minute overview of how the bracelets work.

When you check-in you will receive a bracelet, which is something that you will use throughout the duration of your visit. The bracelet is connected with the credit card you booked your tickets with, so if you need to purchase anything extra while in the water or elsewhere at the facilities, you will use the bracelet to do so! You can ask to connect a new credit card when checking in. The bracelet will also be used to open and close your locker to keep your valuable belongings safe.
Once you are changed into your bathing suit and are ready to go, you need to shower quickly before going into the Blue Lagoon. There is a shelf area right outside the locker room for you to keep your towel and the shelf number corresponds to your locker number, so it’s a personalized space for you to keep track of your towel.

From here, take your time to enjoy the spa! We brought our phones in for the first 30 minutes to take pictures and videos, then put them back in our lockers and relaxed the remaining time we were there. You could also bring a waterproof case or Ziploc bag to help keep your phone from getting wet. There are two separate huts to go to while you are in the water – one to get your silicon mud mask and one to grab your one free drink. We spaced them out a bit and did the mud mask first.

We spent a total of 3 hours at the Blue Lagoon, about 2 hours of which was spent in the water. Enjoy your time here!
