Iceland is one of the most beautiful countries our team has ever had the pleasure of visiting. The vast amounts of waterfalls, glaciers, geysers and jaw-dropping views has this place near the top of our list of must-see bucket list destinations. If you’re visiting Iceland for a week, you’re in for a treat with the itinerary our team put together and followed – we wouldn’t have changed anything about it! This detailed day-by-day itinerary featured below covers all the attractions to see (in order), where we ate, what reservations you need to make, what to pack, when to go, total costs and more. This is the ultimate guide to spending a week in Iceland.
This itinerary is tailored more for the summer months in Iceland between late May and early September (Memorial Day – Labor Day), though you can see most, if not all, of these attractions year-round. We took this trip over Labor Day weekend – leaving Tuesday night and returning Monday night.
For anything that requires a reservation in this itinerary, we recommend doing so as soon as possible. During peak seasons, bookings fill up quickly, so be sure to plan ahead! We provide reservation instructions as needed throughout the course of this itinerary to make things easy.
To get the most out of your trip, wake up early and use every moment of daylight as possible to explore this beautiful country. We also recommend visiting the most popular attractions first thing in the morning, or later in the evening, when there are less tourists around. Our hour-by-hour itinerary has been put together to make sure that you are finished hiking with plenty of time before the sun goes down.
Make sure to pack warm, waterproof clothes! It’s cold and it rains – a lot. A full packing list can be found at the following link.
